Popcorn Squid

Serves (no. of pax): 2-3 pax

Squid Flowers, Halved

1 Tbsp

Minced Garlic

1 Tbsp

Grated Ginger

1 Tbsp

Rice Wine

2 Tbsp

Soy Sauce

1 Tbsp

Five Spice Powder


Egg Yolk

1 Cup

Tapioca Starch



  1. Marinate Squid Flowers with all ingredients above (except tapioca starch) and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  2. Add tapioca starch to the dish, dredge marinated squid and shake off any excess.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, then shallow fry squid on batches, turning each piece to cook evenly.
  4. When the Squid Flowers turns light brown, remove and drain on a kitchen towel.
  5. Serve immediately.
