Introducing: Two great versions of Tuna Tataki
What is Tataki? Tuna Tataki is a great Japanese delicacy. A fresh or tasteless smoked tuna loin is covered with crushed black pepper or a Japanese chilly and pepper mixture called Nanami Togarashi. The tuna is then quickly seared on all sides, thinly sliced and served. You may prepare a special Tataki dipping sauce like the one below or enjoy it with the usual soya sauce and wasabi just like the sashimi. Actually my son loves it with wasabi mayonnaise.
How do I use these Tataki from Fassler? The ready to use Tuna Tataki from Fassler is easily sliced and displayed while still half frozen. Do not fully defrost the product as it will be much harder to cut the delicately soft tuna loins.
How can I display this Tuna Tataki? Below are a few pictures of how some chefs display their Tataki. You may display it like a sashimi or go crazy and serve it with salads dips and sauces.
